Strong Customer Authentication (SCA)

Updated over 3 weeks ago

What is SCA and why is it important?

Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) is a European regulatory requirement aimed at reducing fraud and making online payments more secure. SCA applies to customer-initiated online payments within the European Economic Area (EEA) and requires multi-factor authentication.

At Incard, we apply SCA for both account access and all transactions, ensuring that only authorized users can access or use your account and payment instruments.

When is SCA applied?

We apply Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) when necessary to ensure secure access to your account and to protect sensitive actions or transactions. This includes situations where additional verification is required to help keep your account and funds safe.

Card payments

Online card payments are protected with 3D Secure (3DS), which prompts you to verify the payment through a secure method. This could include SMS, email, biometric verification, or a one-time code depending on your device and region.

How to set up 2FA

During your first login on the web or iOS app, you’ll be guided through setting up 2FA. To complete the setup:

  • Ensure your email and phone number are accurate and up to date

  • Enable biometric login on your iOS device if available

  • If issues arise, contact us via in-app chat or at support@incard.co

Troubleshooting

If you experience issues receiving your verification code or logging in securely:

  • Make sure your device is connected to the internet and SMS/email is working

  • Contact our support team for further assistance
