Samsung Pay is coming soon to Incard. This article explains how it will work so you know what to expect. We'll let you know as soon as it's switched on for your account.
Samsung Pay lets you pay with your Incard card using your Galaxy phone or Galaxy Watch, without taking your card out of your pocket. On current Galaxy devices it lives inside the Samsung Wallet app. The money still comes from the same account your card is linked to.
Which Incard cards you can add
- Both physical and virtual Incard cards can be added.
- Cards linked to your GBP, EUR or USD account are all supported. Payments are charged to that card's funding account exactly as they are today, and automatic currency conversion still handles transactions in other currencies.
- Your card needs to be active. If a card is frozen or has been deactivated, unfreeze it in the app first.
- If you have more than one card, you can add them all and choose which one to pay with.
What you need
- A compatible Samsung Galaxy phone or Galaxy Watch with NFC. Samsung Wallet isn't available on every Galaxy model or in every country, so check it's supported on your device.
- A Samsung account, signed in on the device.
- A secure lock screen — PIN, pattern, password or fingerprint.
How to add your card
From the Incard app — the quickest way:
- Open the Incard app and tap "Cards" at the bottom of the Home screen.
- Select the card you want to add.
- Tap "Add to Samsung Wallet" and follow the steps on screen.
From the Samsung Wallet app:
- Open Samsung Wallet and tap to add a card, then choose "Payment card".
- Scan your physical card, or enter the details manually. You can find your virtual card details in the Incard app after strong authentication.
- Accept the terms and complete verification.
- Register your fingerprint or a Samsung Wallet PIN — you'll use this to approve payments.
Each device is set up separately, so add your card again on your Galaxy Watch if you want to pay with it too.
Where you can pay
- In shops — anywhere that accepts contactless. Open Samsung Wallet, verify with your fingerprint or PIN, and hold the phone near the reader.
- On a Galaxy Watch — press and hold the Home key, the upper side button, to open Samsung Wallet, then hold the watch near the reader.
- Online — in the UK, Samsung Pay is mainly for paying in person. Online and in-app acceptance is limited, so at most checkouts you'll still enter your card details as usual.
Payments go through the contactless reader using NFC. Because each payment is verified on your device, Samsung Pay isn't subject to the usual contactless limit, though some merchants still set their own ceiling and may ask you to insert your physical card instead.
Fees
Incard does not charge you anything extra to use Samsung Pay. There is no fee to add your card, no fee to make a payment, and no fee to receive a refund through Samsung Pay.
Your normal card terms still apply. If you pay in a currency other than the one your card's account is held in, the usual currency conversion applies, just as it would with your physical card.
Notifications and tracking your spend
- You'll get an instant push notification every time your card is used for a purchase or a refund through Samsung Pay.
- Every transaction appears in the Incard app as normal, so you can categorise it, attach a receipt and include it in your reporting.
- Make sure notifications are enabled for the Incard app so you don't miss them.
How secure is it
- Your real card number isn't shared with the merchant. Samsung Wallet replaces it with a token, so the shop never sees your card details.
- Every payment is approved with your fingerprint or Samsung Wallet PIN.
- If you lose your device, use Samsung Find to lock or erase it remotely. Your physical card keeps working normally and doesn't need replacing.
- If you lose your physical card, freeze or replace it in the Incard app. This also stops it working in Samsung Pay.
Refunds and returns
- To return something, hold your phone near the reader the same way you did when you paid.
- Some merchants ask for the last four digits of the card you used. Give them the last four digits of the digital card number shown in Samsung Wallet, not your physical card — open Samsung Wallet and tap your card to find it.
- Refunds reach your account in the same timeframe as any other card refund.
If something isn't working
Your card won't add:
- Check the card is active and not frozen in the Incard app.
- Make sure you're signed in to your Samsung account and Samsung Wallet is up to date.
- Check you've set a secure lock screen on the device.
- Samsung Wallet won't run on rooted or modified devices.
A payment was declined:
- Check the balance on the account your card is linked to.
- Check the card isn't frozen and hasn't hit a spending limit set by your admin.
- Confirm NFC is turned on and the terminal accepts contactless payments.
If you're still stuck, message us from the Incard app or web app and we'll take a look.
Removing a card
Open Samsung Wallet, select the card and choose to delete it. Removing a card from Samsung Wallet doesn't cancel it — your physical and virtual cards carry on working as normal.
